About

Emily Salazar profilepicHey there! So, I have always been an “open book” about my life- the good times, the bad times, the complicated times and the lost times. My hope is that as I share you can find hope, encouragement or at the very least warning signs of what NOT to do! Please, feel free to learn from my mistakes!

As a wife, mom and college instructor I find my passion in helping people discover who they are and how to be their best self. Mind you, I am still on that path of discovery, too. With 24+ years of experience in the communications world- from TV reporter, marketing and campaign manager, church ministry leader, media writer and television producer, sharing stories and insight is my favorite thing to do.

The biggest story of my life (up to know) has been the journey as a “cancer and epilepsy mom.” In one single day the Salazar’s lives were radically changed with the cancer diagnosis of our young daughter and then the continuous challenges from having neurotoxicity from chemotherapy. In this continued journey, I have had to learn (still learning!) how to live a life of purpose, hope and confidence even while our day to day lives are unpredictable and new challenges present themselves frequently. I would say the biggest challenge for me has been finding a new identify in this unexpected turn in our lives and learning to create a life of confidence and hope when the future seems so uncertain and my heart is still a bit broken from the pain.

This blog comes from a desire to help others, especially women, who are facing hard times, set backs and broken dreams. To see them make it in the hard times, because when we lose ourselves in the midst of pain and hard times, we miss out on who we were meant to be. The decisions we make in the middle of those hard times can determine the outcome of our life. Sometimes I did it right, sometimes I didn’t.

So let’s journey together through life.

Be blessed, be brave!
